Payroll Administrator

Midland farms is seeking a motivated individual who has a knack for numbers and a flair for details to join our payroll processing department. The payroll administrator will review and process each department’s weekly compensation schedule and ensure each staff member is paid accurately, utilizing our payroll system. In this position, you will account for deductions, wage garnishments, employment taxes and retirement accounts within each employee’s paycheck. This position is expected to work as a member of the Human Resorces department and will be asked to help with employee onboarding and other HR administrative task.

Job Responsibilities for the Payroll Administrator

  • Administer payroll, deduction summaries and earnings statements for a growing staff of over 120 across different departments on a weekly schedule.
  • Issuing paychecks and managing direct deposits
  • Confirm hours worked, wage amounts and other data about each employee into a computerized payroll accounting system, weekly.
  • Evaluate the accuracy of timesheets submitted by each company department every week and contact supervisors or individual employees when there is a discrepancy
  • Managing electronic timekeeping systems
  • Create new data files for new employees and submit hiring paperwork into the system to set up a payroll account.
  • Enter employee taxes, exemptions, transfers, terminations, and resignations as details change.
  • Respond to any errors in payroll by reviewing past records and making any wage corrections or adjustments when necessary.
  • Track employee absences through the payroll software and record details about personal days, sick leave, jury duty, and extended leaves of absence
  • Coordinating with the HR department to ensure correct employee data.
  • Answer employee questions about payroll, leave amounts, tax forms and other compensation issues when asked.
  • Supports human resources processes by administering forms, scheduling appointments, conducting orientation, creation and filing of new hire folders, maintaining records and information.
  • Maintains employee information by entering and updating employment and status-change data.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping human resource information confidential.

Job Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • A high school diploma or a GED certificate
  • 2+ years of experience working in a payroll office.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and payroll software programs
  • Strong skills in mathematics
  • Understanding of employment and payroll taxes
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Able to prioritize and multitask effectively.

Preferred:

  • Degree in business administration, finance, or accounting preferred.
  • Experience using payroll program Paylocity.
  • HR administrative experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legal regulations regarding Payroll.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 – $29.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
